I realize its not exactly sports car season but I never see any. I see plenty of beat up 350Zs around. I know they had engine and break cooling issues. Does the 370Z still have problems or was/is it to expensive? I feel like I’d totally drive one.

I would just like to point out that I was in middle school when the 370Z came out. I’m now in my second year of college.

I see plenty of tragically modded or slammed ones on cargurus and autotrader but now that you mentioned it, I’ve only seen a handful in person.

I think they were just too expensive. For about the same price someone could get a V8 Camaro or Mustang with ~90 more hp or for about 5k less could buy a Toyobaru.

I see one or two occasionally but usually base models.
I saw a monterey blue 370z just last month in between snow fall. Made me feel better about driving my G35 in the snow. Couldn’t believe my eyes:
I thought I remember hearing the VQ37HR had a weird feel to it since the throttle is controlled directly by valve lift... but maybe that’s been refined by software. Hmm.

As someone who is shopping this segment right now, here is my experience:
The car has a great drivetrain. It feels like an outright sports car, unlike anything else on the market in this price range, so one might find it tempting for a second. NA engines are rare these days, especially a good howling 6 cylinder. Porsche is doing away with theirs, for God’s sake.
Unfortunately, the price tag on these is laughable. Sure, you can get one with some options for $35,000. But what else can I get for $35k, among new cars? An STi. A WRX, loaded to the brim. A Mustang GT with performance pack. All 3 of these cars (okay, both) are brand spanking new. They look good and they feature modern amenities. On top of that, both of them will beat a Z around plenty of courses, be it AutoX or an HPDE. And those are the ones that I shopped. I haven’t even mentioned the Camaro or Focus RS. And then the used cars it needs to compete with? 135i, Boxster S, M3, S3, S4, S5, all the previous years of itself....
Basically, it boils down to whether you would want to pay $35,000 to look like you’re driving a 7 year old car, that includes all the amenities of a 7 year old car. The resounding answer is...no.
If they updated it, though? I think they could really generate sales. It has a unique niche as a raw sports car in this market.

Only seen a few here in the city. I suppose it’s a combination of price and stiff competition that keeps them from selling. And for me, it looks like a design that was never quite finished. It’s an OK looking car, but it needs to be as good looking as the original 240Z.

I saw one half an hour ago and would’ve taken a picture if I weren’t pedalling my bicycle at the time. A red one. I thought of Speed McQueen in “Cars.”

The long nose, the L-6. RWD, torquey low end. 240, 260 and, to some extent, the 280. They lost it when they went to the V6, IMHO. But I’ll never own any of them, so who cares what I think?

It’s such an overpriced car. It starts at the same price as my Mustang did, and only gets slightly more power.

I thought most of the douchebros moved on from the 350 to the G35/G37, and that’s why you don’t see any 370s around

If I were shopping that segment, I’d be looking very hard at Subaru’s offerings.

I don’t think the 370Z is worth the money over a comparable, low mileage 350Z to be honest.

Gotcha. Just had no idea why didn’t seem to be more popular.

There was a 2+2 version as well, and that made the design look awkward.

Saw a purple on purple 370 very today. Looked good, but they didn't sell like the 350 did. Lighter and more powerful though. Should be a good used buy in a few years when they are all but forgotten.

There’s a red one parked at work every day. It’s there before I am and I get in early, so I think it belongs to one of the security guys. I also see a couple of different white ones on a regular basis. There’s also a white 350z at one of the houses I pass on my daily commute.
I guess I’m saying that I see them fairly regularly in Louisiana.

The Subies are definitely front-runners. I just wish the Sti had more power...and that it didn’t look like a Corrolla ;). Unfortunately, the WRXs are breaking axles at autocrosses, so they’re off the table for me. Dropping $15k into a BRZ is an appealing option as well. Right now, though, a used Boxster S or a ‘16 Mustang GT PP Premium are the most likely candidates.

Beyond my pay grade. Sounds like fun though. My nephew-in-law has a BRZ he offered to let me drive, but he moved before I got around to it. I got to drive a P85 Tesla Model S a couple months back. Nothing like 600-ish horsepower at the ready!

I’ve seen both 350Z and 370Z’s where I live. 1 to 3 give or take. I agree with the other poster; the drivetrain, engine (it won awards) are good.
The thing is, the price at the time & the issue of everyone always talking about the Skyline puts the 370Z on the backburner. Kinda like the Camaro, its hard to have 2 prominent cars shine in the same light.
